every answer – ogni risposta – orice răspuns

trilingual text: English, Italian and Romanian translations by me

you believed that the time is a screw that tighten, tighten it all more
as a winepress…
until you have deciphered the signs on the soles
and that you can see not only with your eyes…
you do not have any fear, from now every day you feel a
the onomastics of the eternity and you adopted festive mimics
a priest taught you that you must not waste time
but absolutely must earn it, and then he died…
then, well, you understand what is the stake
you do not get more confused between symbols, you take the joy
Beyond the watches, indeed, you’re throwing in the stove
to thaw hands, because the cold is the dreaded
and in the hollow of the hand sits the time
the tips of the minute hand, twisted now
like a finger pointing at you
indicates, in fact, an incomplete yesterday, there is always something remaining
for the present – and you that has believed until now that is a needle of Insectarium
and soon you too will be skewered…
a fresh fear, you are somehow learned to procure,
is …that you will not know what will you do with this wastage of eternity –
in the your cupped hands is enclosed …every answer

l’onomastico dell’eternità e prendi mimiche festose
indica, infatti, uno ieri incompleto, c’è sempre qualcosa rimasto

ci musai trebuie să-l câștigi, și-apoi a murit…

  1. Wonderful images, Valeriu; this one has really made me think. We allow time (which is, in a sense, a human construct) to dominate our lives to such a worrying extent. I think your metaphor of the screw in the winepress is brilliant, but disturbing too. Are we using time to squeeze out the fragrant wine of illusory pleasure? Does it make us drunk – and then headachy/sick the next day? And what if there is actually no such thing as time – and we are screwing ourselves into knots of fear and nostalgia because our understanding of the universe is, at present, so hide-bound and rudimentary?!
Ah! thanks so much for inspiring me this early: a great start to the day! Ali

  2. A priest never taught me that.
I was alive before. I had almost died. Children had almost died. The person I Loved and was most secure with died. The second person I Loved endures a living hell and the other a man-made hell.
The woman is born when each of the souls that are borne through her are born, the rest is slowly killed off and God who is Love is the life unwasted. A priest never taught me that. The priest never died he lived because of Love.

Tonight I went to jewel bar ~ London Town ~ and I met a beautiful Romanian girl (looked like Duffy). Bar working to make ends meet . When she was an academic in Romania her class discussed V Barbu ~ contemporary poet. We smiled together over you x

We have some girls too beautiful…
but, if in the clase of school has begun to talk about me, it means they I am old or already dead …perhaps laughing!…
