Common people – La gente comune – Oameni de rând

Trilingual text, the English translation by Michaela Jahn

The measurement unit for absurd
Abstract
Abject
.
The extremely poor injected with the illusion of being merely poor, not very poor,
is raising objections to the very rich whose bowels, to top it all, are rumbling….
.
In the background, the muffled splash of spit spat randomly
accompanied by the burp of je-m’en-fichisme – the new political trend
.
From the future descends or climbs, same thing, a bare-foot tear drop,
an idiotic smile, a face without a face, a new currency, a new currency…
.
The ode to the well-fed, is sang by the choir of journalists on the verses of the hungry one
The ode to the hungry is whispered through teeth without teeth by the unborn
.
The curtain refuses to apocalyptically drop, it would want applauses and who would do it if
There are no common people left?…

Image

L’unità di misura per assurdo
astratto
abietto
.

abstract
abject
.

  2. What superb imagery, Valeriu. Once again, you have dived willingly into the sad end of the pool of the Collective Unconscious, and brought up its grievous treasures. But, I do feel that more and more people are beginning to catch on, see the water, put an experimental toe in; that is, perhaps, our greatest hope. Thank you for such lovely words. Ali

  7. True indeed, even the middle class lives in an illusion. In reality the middle class has now been dragged into almost poverty.

  8. What you’ve said in this post is so sadly true. In the United States our political system is broken, locked in stupid, stubborn pride between parties. They are no longer able to affect change, trying to get their own agenda pushed forward.😦

  9. […] valeriu dg barbu blog – Some of us (myself included) find it difficult to write a good poem every so often in our native tongue.  Valeriu posts masterful poems daily in three languages, such as — “Common people/La gente commune/Oameni de rand“. […]
